1. In the sample essay, the author did various things right and wrong. One thing they did right was how they handled their introduction. It includes the title and purpose while being brief. Another thing they did right was avoiding listing their elements without explaining. They connected everything they mentioned back to the purpose of the excerpt. Lastly, they correctly identified each of the shot types used in the excerpt; however, they may not have explained them correctly. This leads us into three things they did wrong. To begin with, the author only had 3 body paragraphs which is unfitting for the amount of scenes and content in the excerpt. They also had incorrect analysis of some of the scenes that weren’t properly explained in their micro analysis. Lastly, the author utilized improper grammar and vocabulary which can be seen throughout the entirety of the excerpt.
2. Three sentences in the second sample that depict the authors macro analysis are “Through the use of primarily close up’s and extreme close up’s, a sense of futility is developed.” Another is “This infers that everyday life continues, despite the violent acts that just took place inside the bathroom.” Lastly, “The final closeup of the newspaper , a method used for documenting the history of our lives, further implies that this death is one in a sea of many” All of these quotes support the macro analysis that says even though the woman is tragically dying, life will continue on without her.
3. If given the chance I would like to improve my fourth paragraph, which talks about the attack on the woman. I believe I misinterpreted various elements of the scene such as the shower head and the woman’s last moments sliding down the wall. I would also add in the macro analysis of the shower head in this paragraph.
