In my first preliminary project, I was tasked with telling a story through 15 still pictures using common school supplies found in my backpack.
Since we were to work in pairs of 2, me and my partner first started by generating story ideas. We thought out a storyboard and what each of the 15 shots would consist of. Part of our criteria was to use a multitude of shot types and angles while paying careful detail to the composition of the shot. We made a table of what shot types and angles each of the 15 shots would use. Various shot types were mandatory for the assignment. After, we began to make the characters for our story. We used multiple different water bottles in our project, varying in size to show age, material to distinct characters, and color themes to reflect their personalities. Upon completion of all necessary props for our story, we began to take pictures of the water bottles for our story. It started with 2 adult water bottles in a hospital who gave birth to a baby water bottle, the main character of the story. It then detailed his life, showing him age up until high school. The story ends with a conflict where the water bottle ends up getting bullied by his fellow classmate, and ends up in tears.
In our story, I think we did especially well at showcasing the various shot types and angles given the task at hand. We adjusted to the fact that the camera subjects were water bottles, and still produced the correct shots. Personal ally, I believe we could have had a better structured story that used more detailed shots. They reflect a story in our work, but it feels rushed and lacks some explanation for some scenes.
